For any daring adventurers willing to battle a creature able to turn thee to stone

The stonemaker need not be slain - the bounty is specifically for a number of mirrors met with the creature's gaze, to be used as components.

Ways To Approach

Although immediately a very daunting quest to go up against something like a Medusa, honestly, it's far less dangerous on closer inspection. As long as the party can get in and get those mirrors looked at, they can do their best to stay at a distance before getting the heck out of there. The main challenges come from ensuring that the mirrors get looked at without meeting the creature's gaze, getting enough of the mirrors looked at to fulfil the quest... and managing to escape.

Consider where the stonemaker is located. Is it a den where multiple reside? Is it a dungeon filled with traps and minions where a Medusa likes to hide away from prying eyes? Is it a quaint cottage on the side of a mountain where they'll willingly look into some mirrors for you but first the party has to do them a favor? All fun options for totally different play outcomes!
