This is a sturdy, if rustic, leather necklace with a small steel bell pendant dangling delicately. Curiously the bell doesn’t seem to ring for some strange reason.
Whenever the attuned creature is knocked unconscious ‘Toll The Dead’ is automatically cast on the attacker with a DC of 15.
This necklace is ideally suited for characters around levels 3-7, although if you’re willing to let the spell’s level scale with the character’s level it can suit characters up to about level 15, after which point they’re likely to be facing enemies more and more able to shrug off a DC15 wisdom save for ‘Toll The Dead’.
The price may seem high considering you’re unlikely to find a character who plans on being knocked unconscious, but there’s surprising value in being able to potentially get a bit of payback on the one who knocked you down. There’s even more value when you consider that the spell doesn’t cost any sort of reaction, happens out of turn, and doesn’t have a daily limit (assuming the owner is willing to be repeatedly knocked unconscious). More-so, by the time the PC hits the point of a battle where they can be knocked unconscious there’s a good chance the attacker has been damaged at least once, and so the damage die for ‘Toll The Dead’ is almost guaranteed to get bumped up from a D8 to a D12.
