He is a brown and white boer goat, responds to the name Grant, and was last seen stealing apples in the southern market.

Ways to approach
Sounds like this goat is one sly creature. It’s possible they’re simply smarter than your average Boer, but it would be interesting to find out they had humanoid sentience and longed for a life outside of a farm’s fences. Unfortunately, this was more complicated than they expected, and they may see fit to barter with the party; they’ll go back willingly but only after accompanying them on an adventure or two. They may even provide some worthwhile input.
Alternatively, this could be an elaborate ploy by a rival farmer who has either become tired of Dorian’s goat constantly winning, or wants to use Grant as leverage for buying some of Dorian’s land. In this case, it looks like a good old fashioned kidnapping for the party to solve!
Otherwise, a party member could pursue this as a downtime job, spending approximately a week investigating and finding the missing goat.
Possible Repercussions
The repercussions of a missing goat not being found might not be vast, but there may be interesting rumors of certain items being stolen or half-eaten as the goat continues to avoid discovery. Grant may even start to be the talk of the town.
If Dorian does have a competitor, then it’s likely they will succeed at whatever ploy it is they have in mind, though it may be more interesting for rumors to circulate about their arrest over the matter of a goat.
