Death Shrouds Quirrin Stones

Pinned to the Notice Board

A slightly torn parchment with thick ink writing proclaims:

Death Shrouds Quirrin Stones

Undead have risen and pour out from the cracks of the rock formation known locally as the Quirrin Stones. Their attacks on the surrounding area have so far been light, but are expected to rise in severity over the coming nights.

Any competent fighters are requested to seek out The Bone Breakers at The Hound’s Head for aid in protecting the perimeter or joining our order for a mission to delve below the rocks and vanquish the source of the undead.

Ways To Approach

Imagine, if you will, a craggy rock formation atop a mound isolated on the moors, as if a horrible scab on the world. You may have visited it a hundred times and climbed to the top for the breathtaking view. But one day, it is not as peaceful as it has been, one day from its many cracks, a hand creaks out, and pulls with it an undead assailant. As the days go on, more seem to bleed out from the rocks, and before long scouts begin shambling across the local fields.

That's what my head sees with this adventure prompt—a slow takeover of the surrounding area. But my question is; are the undead a disease on the land? Or merely the symptom of something far, far worse? For low-level parties, they could easily be the metaphorical blood from a cut, but for higher levels, or an extended campaign, they could actually be the metaphorical white blood cells to fight off an even greater threat—a natural defence of the land.

Also, if you’re intrigued by the wax seal for the Bone Breakers, keep an eye out! Once I have a storefront set up, that will be one of the first things up there!
