The 2nd Annual CARAVAN RACE is coming up!
1st place pins at least 100 gold!
Interested drivers can sign up at the West Road Stable. Entry fee is 1 gold. Drivers must have own vehicle, or access to one. A caravan can be rented for 10 gold, plus a 10 gold deposit to cover any potential repairs.
Ways to approach
Sometimes the best way to unwind is with some friendly competition that doesn’t have tremendously high stakes. Regardless of the gold reward, any level of party can have fun tricking out a caravan for this event. I kept vague about the type of race so that you had the choice of making it a simple racecourse that the adventurers just have to make a few checks on, to a full-blown wacky-races-style multi-tier encounter. I think you know which I would be leaning towards!
Think about how you can get all of your party involved in this if you can. In dirt rallies, one person has to be a navigator while the other drives in order to make sure they are prepared for the challenges ahead. It wouldn’t hurt to have somebody handy at fixing things should they go off the road. And possibly the most fun job; getting to throw the banana peels off the back of the wagon in true Mario Kart style.
Possible Repercussions
Regardless of whether or not the players take on this event, the local area is going to be talking about it for some time to come! The highs, the lows, the important people who showed up, and of course the winners. Be sure to take some notes on what happens if your players join in so that rumors can spread and possibly even be exaggerated as they get further and further out. Or if your party don’t partake then you have some casual pub talk that they might overhear down the line.
